This job assumes responsibility for the supervision of staff performing patient registration tasks for the company's patients’ services, including functions associated with creating / activating accounts, registering accounts, collecting patient liability, and providing point-of-service information to the patient.

Improves patient satisfaction through ensuring a consistent representation of the organization in a professional manner.

Provides cross-training to support multiple functions across all patient and payer types.

Education

Required -High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred -Additional degrees, business training experience and / or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.

Work Experience

Required -8 years customer service experience including related hospital, clinic, medical office, business services / revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, hotel, retail and / or customer service related experience and supervisory experience OR 3 years' experience wiht a Bachelor's degree

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of patient registration, insurance verification, and payment negotiation.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills including the ability to handle / escalate difficult situations.
  • Moderate knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekends hours, as required.

Job Duties

  • Supervises, trains and develops department staff and manages staff performance.
  • Monitors and manages department metric performance.
  • Completes staff administrative responsibilities.
  • Performs patient registration tasks.
  • Manages registration patient flow.
  • Maintains organizational training requirements.
  • Other related duties as required.

The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and / or disposal of contaminated waste.

The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
