TITLE : District Permanent Substitute Teacher

DEPARTMENT : Teaching and Learning

LOCATION : Various buildings

REPORTS TO : Building Administration

SUMMARY : To serve as a permanent substitute for the district, providing instruction in the absence of the assigned teacher for a single day or for short term absences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree and a valid Substitute License which is registered in Lake County Illinois.

An Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• Ability to maintain regular and good work attendance and come to work on time.
• Ability to work constructively and cooperatively with others.
• Ability to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner.
• Ability to manage job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines.
• Ability to access, input, and retrieves information from a computer.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work in conjunction with the classroom instruction plan to deliver daily instruction and student supervision.
• Conduct a program of study based on the district's curriculum that enables students to reach their maximum potential for success.
• Support and enforce all school rules and regulations.
• Maintain proper and adequate control of all pupils.
• Report to the building administrator all serious or willful acts of misconduct by pupils and / or other individuals.
• Maintain a classroom free from profane language or physical violence.
• Follow prepared lesson plans and keep attendance records as required.
• Follow the district's curriculum as set forth in the district's curriculum guidelines.
• Participate in professional growth activities and continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned by the building and district administrator.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT : Full-time assignment for the school year with medical benefit eligible.

EVALUATION : Performance will be evaluated annually by Building Administration
