What would you do?

This position requires a strategic leader who can effectively manage a diverse team, optimize infrastructure performance, ensure scalability, and uphold security standards across the business.

This position will work closely with other business departments, as well as with key stakeholders throughout the organization, to ensure that IT is supporting the needs of the organization.

This is a critical role that requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills, strong project management skills, outstanding communication abilities, and a problem-solving mindset in a fast-paced 24x7x365 environment in support of our business and basketball operations objectives and goals.

  • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the organization’s business goals.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations for their integration into the company’s IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of IT services, ensuring the 24x7x365 performance of all IT systems and networks, and identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the service delivery processes and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the security of the IT infrastructure and data, implementing the best practices of cybersecurity.
  • Using project management, oversee IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Own, develop, and nurture strong relationships between business / basketball operations and IT, ensuring that regular communications forums are established and scheduled regularly.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders from management to executive levels throughout the business / basketball operations, to identify service delivery requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers including the negotiation and management of contracts, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide support for IT-related issues including hands-on if needed, ensure timely resolution, and closure / debriefing once issues are resolved.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Oversee and participate as an escalation point in an IT on-call rotation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other :

  • Relevant industry experience with designing, deploying, and supporting technology in a fast-paced 24x7x365 environment.
  • Have a relevant degree paired with experience and certifications in IT management (ITIL) and technology certifications (Microsoft Certs).
  • Demonstrated strong hands-on technical background in network infrastructure, systems administration, and IT security including but not limited to : firewalls, switches, server virtualization, SAN / NAS, cloud infrastructure, etc.
  • Previous experience with Project Place or other similar project management software.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, creating, and executing an IT budget.
  • Working knowledge of key cybersecurity principles, able to work with NBA Cybersecurity team to develop roadmaps to remediate or introduce new cybersecurity standards.
  • Good understanding of common project and / or change delivery / development frameworks (agile, kanban, waterfall, scrum, etc.

with hands-on experience working within some of these.

  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, building strong partnerships to drive collective success.
  • Excellent abilities to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills both in-person and remote work environments.
  • You are a highly autonomous leader that is performance-driven and personally committed to ensuring all milestones are met on time.
  • You are highly organized and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive priorities and deadlines at once.
  • Experience : 10+ years of experience in information technology; a broad, high-level understanding of all IT infrastructure components including networking, cloud-based infrastructure, servers and services including virtualization;

data backup and security, applications, etc. 5+ years in leadership / management with increasing responsibility.

Work Environment :

This job operates in a professional office environment. Office hours are typically 8 : 30 AM-5 : 00 PM Monday-Friday. Work is generally sedentary in nature.

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.

Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers / steps.

Physical Demands :

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone.

The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer, and telephone.

Staff will frequently ascend and descend bleachers / steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days.

Staff may occasionally move objects weighing up to 15 pounds.

Travel : Position may require travel to external events.
