About Our Opportunity
We are seeking a Dollar General Shuttle Manager for our Blairs Distribution Center. This position directly manages all aspects of the Dollar General Shuttle Fulfillment process in the Blairs distribution center across all shifts.
It is anticipated that, in performing the assigned duties, the Dollar General Shuttle Manager will manage a customarily recognized department or subdivision of the Company, while customarily and regularly directing the work of at least two or more exempt employees and their direct reports.
Responsibilities
Oversees all aspects of shuttle and personnel in the Dollar General area across multiple shifts.
- Releases and monitors waves from the Dollar General area on or before scheduled date.
- Utilizes and reviews inventory from JDE, Viadat, Mobie, and WMS system to fulfill requirements for maintaining orders.
- Interacts with all areas of the department to understand issues and assess needs to improve consistency and integrity of processes.
- Oversees daily management and supervision of the departmental workforce including providing training and direction, setting deadlines, and resolving problems.
Administers corrective action according to company guidelines.
- Orders and maintains sufficient quantities of consumable items to assure a smooth flow in daily operations.
- Studies department workload and estimates manpower requirements. Establishes and adjusts manpower assignments to meet production goals.
- Works with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant positions.
- Annually prepares performance evaluations for departmental staff.
- Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
- Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Ensures daily reports are submitted as appropriate.
- Participates and prepares for all meetings as required
- A commitment to companywide quality and safety is required.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company to meet departmental goals.
- Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem-solving and implementation.
- Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and / or facts and recommendations effectively.
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets related documents.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WMS, and JDE
- Ability to manage groups through project implementation.
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to work independently with little direction.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company in order to meet departmental goals
- Strong overall management skills are essential that include problem solving, production analysis, work process analysis, business statistics, intermediate math skills, and personnel management
- Ability to effectively assess departmental needs and develop short and long-term strategic plans to address those needs
- Strong analytical skills with methodological approach to problem solving and implementation. Extreme attention to detail
- Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to present ideas, and / or facts and recommendations effectively
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents
- Strong computer skills including intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Ability to manage groups through project implementation
- Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently with little direction
- 5 years of experience in a distribution / manufacturing environment required.
- High school diploma or its equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Management experience required
- Experience with an automated pick and storage system is preferred.
