Job Summary :
The Accounting Manager will oversee the institution's accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
This role involves managing accounting staff, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Accounting Manager will collaborate with various departments to support financial planning and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Reporting : Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and completed in a timely manner.
Oversee the preparation of special financial reports as needed.
- General Ledger Management : Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Budget Management : Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget.Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support budget decisions.
- Audit and Compliance : Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial regulations and policies.
- Accounts Management : Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.Ensure timely processing of transactions and resolution of discrepancies.
- Policy and Procedure Development : Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and performance evaluations.Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Collaboration : Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support.Participate in cross-departmental projects and initiatives to enhance financial processes.
Accounting Manager Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Experience in higher education or non-profit accounting is highly desirable.
- Skills : Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in accounting software and systems (e.
g., Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar).Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team.
