About the Role.

The Director, Claims Learning and Development will play a critical role in delivering solutions in line with the department’s business strategy to ensure the Claims team has the knowledge and skills needed to adjust claims accurately, efficiently, fairly, and while delivering excellent service.

This role is responsible for developing claims professionals at all levels and fostering a culture of continuous education and improvement.

What You’ll Do.

The Director, Claims Learning and Development will bring deep knowledge and expertise in property claims and leverage this knowledge to design and deliver effective learning programs in areas such as onboarding, continuous professional development, and the rollout of new strategies and services, including technology solutions.

The Director, Claims Learning and Development will own the design, development, delivery, and oversight of the Claims training curriculum and manage a team to support program design and delivery.

This leader will serve as a player-coach, meaning that they will lead the team responsible for technical development, while also having personal responsibility for the design and delivery of Claims training.

The position will report to the VP, Learning and Development with a strong dotted line relationship to the VP, Head of Home Office Claims.

You have strong technical expertise in property claims. You enjoy learning new things and stepping out of your comfort zone.

You’ve worked in a home office or shared services role that requires extensive consultation and collaboration with stakeholders.

You have strong relationships and are a leader that people want to work with. You bring your own ideas but can also take direction and get things done.

You have people leadership experience and are comfortable coaching junior team members to help ensure they can make progress on the most important work.

You have a strong handle of the technology solutions used in Claims. You are based near a PURE office (preferably Charleston or Scottsdale) and can have a weekly office presence.

A Day in the Life :

A typical day could include the following : Facilitating a workshop in person or virtually, working with Claims leaders to develop content for staff development, creating e-learning modules to be used by Claims staff, developing an onboarding curriculum, collaborating with colleagues to help the Claims department implement a new technology, bringing excellent attention to detail to managing learning events, meeting with senior leaders in Claims and HR to identify needs and solutions for staff development, and coaching members of the team to ensure work is aligned with department strategy.

The responsibilities will encompass the following categories :

  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs, coursework, tools, job aid materials, and supplemental documents (including but not limited to instructor-led training courses, facilitator guides, videos, quick reference cards, computer-based training, job aids, etc.)
  • Establish success criteria and implement methods for measuring training effectiveness
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in knowledge and skills
  • Work with Field Claims leadership to design continuing education programs for staff
  • Assist Field Claims leadership in developing tools and techniques to become more effective educators and supporting the learning of their employees through coaching, reinforcement, and accountability
  • Implement best practices for knowledge management within the department, utilizing technical tools like PURE’s LMS, ShareFile, etc.
  • Partner with Claims Audit team to identify and execute on training opportunities.

What we are looking for.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge and expertise in property claims
  • At least 3 years of experience in Learning and Development; at least 8 years of professional experience
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders and managing projects in a home office or shared services role.
  • Strong relationship skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly for training events and with field staff as needed.
  • Ability to build credibility quickly and influence others to achieve results
  • Personal commitment to continuous growth and development
  • Ability to work well with leaders at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to execute on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment

The base salary range for this role is $110K-$130K and is based on a full time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation varies depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
