GENERAL SUMMARY

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will use your experience working with quality control systems, preferably in electronics or medical devices, to help develop and improve our manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods while ensuring compliance with government regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, working with quality control systems, preferably in electronics or medical device as well as in a GMP / ISO environment
  • Computer proficient; confident using data analysis programs and Microsoft Suite
  • Experience using CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software
  • Experience with lean manufacturing techniques preferred
  • Master problem solver familiar with root cause analysis techniques
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to cheerfully work to challenging schedules

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or related engineering field preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills required. Must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Physical Demands

  • Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
  • Typically, employees sit comfortably to do their work, interspersed by brief periods of standing, walking, bending, carrying papers and books, and extensive periods requiring the use of computer terminals to accomplish work objectives.
  • Required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard.
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.

Working Conditions

Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of heavy networking equipment.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Each Employee consistently demonstrates the following essential functions :

Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials;

conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from manufacturing technicians

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment;

conferring with equipment vendors

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards;

confirming manufacturing processes

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules;

estimating future requirements

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures;

requesting special service

  • Maintains product and process database by specifying requirements; entering data
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding manufacturing technicians
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Attends and participates in departmental meetings. Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence.
  • Ensures all department compliance guidelines are met.
  • Attends all meetings, in-services training, or continuing education as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Provides customer-focused interactions.
  • Performs all duties necessary for the department as per department policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the supervisor within the scope of practice and the responsibilities in the department.
