Job Description
Olympus is seeking an attorney to provide legal support to its medical and life science businesses with respect to a variety of commercial and corporate transactional matters.
The primary purpose of this role is to review, draft, and negotiate a variety of agreements and other documents, and to provide legal support and guidance to internal business clients.
Job Duties
- Provides advice on applicable laws, regulations and company policies, including but not limited to, FDA regulations, OIG guidance, health care fraud and abuse, Open Payments and HIPAA.
- Counsels the business on appropriate relationships with customers, healthcare professionals and other third parties, in compliance with applicable legal requirements and company policies.
- Drafts and negotiates contracts and documents supporting a variety of commercial transactions, advising the business managers through the contract negotiation process with respect to areas of legal risk exposure and recommending strategies to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
- Develops and enhances standard contracts and playbooks to advance the company’s interests.
- Analyzes legal implications and areas of exposure.
- Reviews existing agreements and related records when disputes arise to help assess the company’s position. Preparing communications directed at preserving and maximizing the company’s position while moving toward resolution.
- Reviews advertising and promotional materials and provides guidance to business partners on such materials.
- Reviews and counsels the business on advisory boards, speaker programs, healthcare economics and reimbursement, patient assistance programs, and medical education initiatives.
- Develops and provides training to business managers on a variety of legal and compliance matters.
- Functions independently and delivers desired results with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Interacts with company and third-party business and legal personnel on relevant legal matters.
- Maintains active communication with manager and the business about risks within areas of responsibility.
- Collaborates with others in the Olympus’ legal department on matters within areas of responsibility.
- Provides direct and indirect supervision and guidance to other professional(s) and or paraprofessional(s) in the Legal Department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required :
- J.D. Degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in accordance with Pennsylvania state bar or Massachusetts state bar requirements. Member in good standing of all state bars where licensed to practice law.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of commercial and corporate transactional experience, either with a law firm or in-house legal department.
- Experience in highly regulated industry required; medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences experience preferred.

- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic corporate environment.
