This requires using excellent customer service skillsand working under state and Department of Transportation (DOT)regulations and Sysco safety preferred work methods.
Overtimehours, working weekends and holidays, and starting at various earlymorning start times are required to successfully meet customers’needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver product within assigned routeschedule and time windows. Immediately inform the management teamof any deviations.
Unload product from trailer, by hand or using ahand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas. Mayinclude transporting product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in allweather conditions.
Frequently lift, push, or move product thatweighs 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 tostack and unstack pallets and hand cart.
Constantly bend and twistwhile loading and unloading products, and retrieving items fromtrailer. Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain propersignatures.
Contact management for authorization when discrepancieson invoice and communicate all errors / returns. Collect money (cashor checks) where required.
Pickup, load and unload damaged goodsand customer returns, and complete necessary paperwork. Performpre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following the Department ofTransportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies and procedures.
Perform coupling procedures for the tractor / trailer as needed.Complete DOT logs (electronic or manual as required), companyvehicle maintenance reports and reconcile with appropriate companyrepresentative as required.
Follow SyscoSafe preferred work methodsat all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafeconditions. Maintain sanitary conditions in tractor and trailer andassist with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse andyard.
Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, includingbut not limited to hand cart, pallets, load bars, and personalprotective equipment.
Attend all required company meetings. Otherduties may be assigned. QUALIFICATION Education High school diplomaor general education degree (GED).
Experience 2 years local food orbeverage delivery experience preferred. Pallet breakdown and handcart delivery experience preferred.
Requirements Must be 21+ yearsof age. Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record (including no single DUI in the last 3 years and nomultiple DUIs within the last 10 years).
1-year commercial drivingexperience. Submit to pre-employment testing (Drug Screen,Background Check, Physical Abilities Test).
For internalassociates, or if market conditions warrant, Sysco may opt torequire completion of Sysco’s Entry-Level Driver Training Programwithin first 12 weeks of Driver employment, in place of 1 year CMVexperience.
