JOB SUMMARY :
The Data Analyst position is a full-time, funded for a 24-month period reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics and Digital Transformation in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Advising and Student Support.
This position will support the implementation of Bay Path University's Student Success Center.
The incumbent is responsible for acting across the lifecycle of report and dashboard authorship : conducting a needs analysis with stakeholders, generating specifications, identifying data sources, designing prototypes, and iterating for continuous improvement.
In completing this work, the Data Analyst will use various tools (SQL, Power BI, SPSS, etc.) and methods to aggregate and disaggregate data and draw predictions supporting business needs.
The Data Analyst also will support the Senior Director in training campus stakeholders in the use of institutional data for decision-making processes and in advancing the principles of data governance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Conducting needs and gap analysis for business intelligence projects with stakeholders across the university
- Writing and documenting scripts and queries to analyze data streams
- Designing reports and dashboards from multiple data sources to meet stakeholder specifications
- Interacting with data engineers to identify data streams to fulfill stakeholders' information requests
- Assisting in the advancement of data governance principles and initiatives with various stakeholders
- Supporting process to train and develop stakeholders in the meaning and usage of data, reports, and dashboards for decision-making
- Participating in an iterative development process that considers stakeholder, analyst, and engineer feedback
- Attending trainings as required.
- Performs any other duties or tasks as assigned by the University.
Requirements :
- A bachelor's degree required master's degree preferred.
- 2 or more years of relevant experience.
- Skilled in writing data queries in a multi-database environment, particularly using SQL
- Skilled in using statistical analysis and developing predictive models
- Skilled in generating reports to client specifications
- Skilled in developing dashboards within business intelligence platforms to client specifications while employing best practices in data design
- Ability to interact with clients in a variety of formats to ascertain business intelligence needs and to communicate data insights
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate work with other data professionals within and across team functions
- Domain knowledge in multiple areas of higher education data stores
- Knowledge of relational database design
- Knowledge of data governance principles
- Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and in accordance with FERPA and HIPPA Regulations.
