Overview
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Senior MEP Practice Builder with a strong high performance buildings focus to expand our MEP practice in Orange, CA! This role will focus on growing our MEP disciplines in California and across our national geographic markets.
In this role, you will partner closely with other growth-minded leaders in the firm. In addition, we have a robust dedicated marketing team that will provide additional support in developing market strategy and assist with proposal leadership.
Collectively we will achieve rapid and high-quality growth in existing and new markets.
Responsibilities
MEP Business Development
- Approximately 30% of time will be focused on growing the MEP practice in the California market. The approach to marketing, partnering, and external relationship building will be the centerpiece of this effort.
- There will be ongoing flexibility in this role on projects depending on the client, geographic market, and depth of the relationship.
- Partner with our strong marketing staff to aid in strategic pre-sell activities and produce high-quality proposals.
Support National Strategic MEP growth
- Approximately 30% of time will be focused on partnering with leaders in various regions to accelerate our growth within the broader MEP markets.
- Identify and participate in the strategy for attending conferences and maintaining connectivity amongst our MEP teams across the nation.
- Build relationships in these markets and, in select circumstances, may serve as Principal-In-Charge on certain project opportunities.
Recruiting and Team Development
- Approximately 40% of time will be focused on Senior Practice-Builder and mid-level leader recruiting. This will be performed in partnership with others across the Region and potentially includes the full spectrum of recruiting (initial sourcing to final offer presentation).
- Focus on recruiting will support our continued growth in the MEP markets and will result in skilled and balanced teams capable of delivering a wide range of projects.
- Developing our existing and future Emerging Practice Builders (EPBs) by partnering with them in developing and executing marketing, client capture, and growth plans.
Additionally, occasionally support our EPBs through technical mentorship and project delivery.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of related MEP and / or electrical engineering experience in a leadership role
- Proven design experience with comfort and MEP systems and related controls
- Proven design experience with plumbing systems including water, sewer, and gas
- Experience mentoring and coordinating the work of EITs, designers, and other technical staff on various mechanical or multi-discipline projects
- Able to manage and deliver tasks under minimal supervision and guidance
- Experience in AutoCAD and Revit is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking ability
- Ability to work individually or in a multi-discipline
Base Salary Range :
- $165,000 - $210,000
- Eligible for performance-based bonus compensation
