Job Title Legal Secretary Job Title Note Will County Public Defender Job Summary Provides confidential and paraprofessional secretarial support to Executive, Managerial, and Administrative supervisors in the Will County Public Defender Office, by preparing papers, correspondence and other documents of a legal nature, required in formal administrative hearings and judicial proceedings.
Examples of Work : Prepares papers, correspondence and other documents of a legal nature, such as briefs, subpoenas, summonses, complaints, motions, jury instruction, court decisions and appeals.
Performs confidential and routine secretarial functions. Takes dictation or transcription. Types routine and confidential documents.
Directs preparation and filing of legal documents. Operates standard office equipment.Receives inquiries, in person or by phone, and responds or directs person to proper sources of assistance.
Performs other duties, as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications I.) High School graduate or equivalent; 2.) Experience : One (1) year prior and related paraprofessional, clerical experience required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : 1.) Type at a minimum rate of 60 words per minute;2.) Appointed and removed by the Public Defender in accordance with appointed status and procedures, and pursuant to union contractual agreement, as such is applicable.
