Summary

The Hospital-Based Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing, coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining the credentialing process for new medical staff appointments, and re-appointments of medical staff privileges for the hospital-based AP / CP pathologists at hospital and surgery centers.

Included in these activities are the processing of provider applications and re-applications, initial mailing, review, and loading into the database tracking system ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit initial medical staff appointment packages to obtain active hospital medical staff privileges.
  • Follow Inform DX guidelines and procedures for the credentialing process of obtaining medical staff privileges in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain company database of medical staff privileges.
  • Maintain database of current copies and electronic files of physician CVs, Texas Standardized credentialing applications, CME for each physician, State medical licenses, NPI numbers, professional liability insurance certificates, etc.
  • Keep a calendar of expiring medical staff privileges and notify pathologists sixty (60) days in advance of upcoming deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit initial medical staff re-appointment packages to obtain active hospital medical staff privileges.
  • Routinely update and maintain database / spreadsheet of all hospital-based pathologists and their active medical staff privileges.

Share updated spreadsheets on a monthly basis with physician leadership and administrative leadership over the hospital-based pathology division.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts of credentialing and licensing procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver timely and accurate work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for credentialing
  • Proactive, works with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of Internet for business use.
  • A high degree of human relations skills to interact across multiple facilities at various levels
  • Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization.
