Systems Engineer - Hybrid

• Description : *Our client in Fort Collins, CO is looking for a Systems Engineer for their environment. This position is responsible for serving as the technical support specialist in several areas including : server provisioning systems;
• Windows server OS technologies; server performance monitoring and management; infrastructure vulnerability management; Exchange management;

and backup / recovery technologies. The incumbent is responsible for tier two infrastructure troubleshooting and support with a key focus on overall performance management.

They will be responsible for ensuring all systems they manage have accurate and current diagrams and documentation. The incumbent will function as the primary mentor for entry-level systems engineers and infrastructure interns and will assist other systems engineers with supporting various wired and wireless networking technologies, routers and firewalls, storage systems and the virtualization infrastructure.

They must be willing to take direction from management and other system engineers and be open to input from members of the IT staff.

The incumbent should have good written and verbal communications skills and be committed to developing their problem solving, time management and technical skills through formal training and self-development activities.

They are expected to respectfully and constructively suggest improvements when they identify inefficient or ineffective processes, systems, etc.

They must be committed to relationship management with colleagues, supervisors, vendors, consultants, auditors and anyone else they come in contact while representing Platte River.Essential Functions :

• Support and manage the wired and wireless local area networks at Platte River’s facilities for all enterprise and access control functions.
• Support and help manage the wide area networking connectivity, border gateway and perimeter protection systems required to connect Platte River facilities to each other as well as to the internet.
• Support and manage the storage area network (SAN) systems required to support the data storage needs of the organization.
• Support the VMware virtualize computing environment. Deploy and configure VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter management systems and related VMware technologies.

Ensure optimal performance and availability of the VMware environment using various VMware tools such as HA, DRS, etc.

• Perform / direct the installation, configuration and burn-in testing of new hardware. Analyze, diagnose and resolve hardware related problems and ensure all establish standards, processes and procedures are followed throughout the equipment lifecycle.
• Provide tier two infrastructure technical support and initiate contact with vendor technical support as required. Mentor other systems engineers and other IT staff, helping them to understand the environment.
