Collins Aerospace is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the execution and delivery of the engineering team's work products and serve as the primary engineering contact for the design team.
You will communicate with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) on your assigned project, clearly defining and communicating project scope, objectives, and deliverables to the design team.
Your role includes ensuring all stakeholders share a common understanding of project goals. You will be responsible for creating detailed plans and schedules, leading and collaborating with the engineering team to meet technical and program requirements successfully, on time, and within budget.
Additionally, you will manage tasks, deliverables, and any changes in scope, while regularly communicating progress and performance against the plan to the Project Engineer and manager.
The position works Onsite at our Everett, WA facility.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary technical interface with internal stakeholders.
Work with the Project Engineer to establish the detailed engineering schedule and maintain it throughout the duration of the project.
Lead a small team of engineers to execute the design and create drawings for the assigned product.
Responsible to clearly communicate the program statement of work to the design team.
Accountable for the completion of the design engineering work packages to meet the requirements of the customer and regulatory agencies, as well as meet schedule, and budget.
Accountable for identifying scope change and project risks to the Project Engineer.
Support the Project Engineer and prepare and participate in milestone and / or technical meetings with customers.
Work intimately with IPT (project engineer, procurement, operations, and others) to achieve program success.
Responsible for providing project status reports to the project engineer and / or engineering management.
Qualifications / Experience Needed :
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here :
Minimum 2 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience
Minimum 1 year experience with CAD (or similar) design experience
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace industry experience is a plus.
Experience in leading a designers on a project.
Scheduling using Microsoft Project.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
CAD (NX) & PLM Systems (Teamcenter).
Experience supporting commercial aircraft such as Boeing and Airbus.
Direct experience with one or more of the following : commercial aircraft interiors and / or system design.
