Responsibilities What You’ll Accomplish
Collaborative Teammate : multidisciplinary community of designers and otherPrincipals and Directors who lead complex teams in the design and planning of arange of project types.
We work with public and private-sector clients,architects, and engineers in the South Texas region, as well as with other MIGoffices and on projects across the country.
- Managing Projects : You will provide visionary leadership, strategy, and overarching project anddesign direction to MIG staff and oversight of work products;
- work with staffto ensure the high-quality, on-time / on-budget delivery of projects which includesoversight of hours spent in relation to billings, lead internal and externalsubconsultant and client teams;
- and develop and manage projects includingscopes of work, budgets, and schedules. In addition, Principals, Directors, andProject Managers at MIG maintain client relationships;
identify the correctcourse of action to the client; represent clients at public hearings andmeetings; and set the standards for excellence, responsiveness, andaccountability.
Project Work : You will actively work on projects by designing, producing deliverables, and leadingteams and creating bold, innovative, and equitable design solutions.
You willwork closely with a team of designers and planners to produce projectdeliverables that are in your field of expertise (landscape design, planning,and / or community outreach), develop forward-thinking designs,strategies, reports, analyses, graphic materials, facilitate project and publicmeetings, and will work closely with junior- and mid-levelstaff to support their ability to work on projects.
- Project Types : Projects you will typically work on will include streetscape design;park planning and design; site and landscape design for public and privatebuildings;
- healthcare facilities; city or town comprehensive plans, campusmaster plans, community outreach, public utilities; children’splay environments;
and community engagement (including online meetings andtools).
- Financial Oversight : In partnership with MIG of San Antonio and California principal leadership, youwill be responsible for the overall financial results and performance of the SanAntonio office and provide executive leadership of the group and represent itto the Management Team including profitability, utilization, staff development,sales, and alignment with and participation in all MIG systems and processes.
- Office Operational Functions : Asthe Director for the San Antonio office and in partnership with the San Antonioprincipal leadership, you will assist MIG and lead the office in its dailyoperations, including setting an example by maintaining good communications,professionalism, and moral throughout the group, providing facilitiesoversight, address staff workload leveling and needs for the office overall andper project, and ensure consistency and compliance with systems and processes.
You will oversee the accounting functions of the office, including working withthe Project Accountant to regularly review office financials, ensure invoicesare accurate and timely, assist with answering financial health reportingquestions, and review project budget statuses and overage mitigationstrategies.
Client Development : You will work with the San Antonio Leadership Team to help build and maintainstrong and responsive client relationships by developing leads, preparingproposals, and helping to define market gaps and new opportunities.
LeadershipRole : Principals and Directors at MIG serve as a leader forthe firm and group, working together with staff to ensure effective projectmanagement, quality work products, and to mentor,supervise and train staff, conduct business development, andkeep an eye on MIG’s vision, purpose, and reputation in the professional andregulatory community.
MIG works on projects nationwide; some travel,evening, and weekend work may be required for community engagement, siteevaluations, or to meet deadlines.

- You are local or willing to relocate to the San Antonio area.
- You have experience leading designteams, supervising staff, and facilitating a collaborative, supportive studioenvironment with other leaders, project managers, and production staff.
- Strong construction document andconstruction administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects , including maintaining compliance withproject contracts, drafting and managing scopes budgets, and maintaining schedules,as well as working with clients and partners to execute project work.
- The ability to prepare and delivereffective public presentations , lead working meetings, and speakeffectively in front of groups to facilitate client and stakeholdermeetings.
- Ability to actively participate inmarketing and business development opportunities , develop proposals forprospective projects, participate in interviews, and develop and maintainpotential client and partner relationships.
- You are an excellent communicator who provides clear, collaborative, and productive written and verbalcommunication.
- You are capable of developingcollaborative, productive, and respectful relationships with communitymembers, organizations, and partners.
- Excellent skills in reviewing work products and providing direction to staff.
- You have an approachable, calm, and respectfuldemeanor and are an adaptable teammate who is willing to pitch inand help others.
- You have software proficiency in AutoCAD,Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Proficiency with the Deltek accountingplatform is a plus .
- You have ten (10) or more years of professionalexperience in a similar role in planning, community development, publicpolicy, or a related field.

This is afull-time, salary (exempt) position. The pay range for this position is $120,000-$155,000 / year,commensurate with skills, experience, licensure / certification, and theindividual’s ability to bring projects in the door.
