VGM Insurance Services, a vital division of the VGM Group, specializes in Product and Professional Liability Insurance to Home Care dealers throughout the United States.
As a mid-level data analyst, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that VGM Insurance Services and its leaders have quality, meaningful, relevant, accurate and actionable information on which to make key business decisions.
The ideal candidate will be able to acquire, structure, manage, visualize and report on critical company data. Utilizing a creative and service-oriented approach to working with data to meet team and business user information needs, the Data Analyst 2 is responsible for extracting, transforming, and visualizing data for reporting and analysis as directed by the Business Analyst.
Reports to : Director of Business Analytics, directly and Senior VP of Information Systems, indirectly
Location : Waterloo, Iowa- onsite or hybrid
Working Hours : Full-time, Monday-Friday
As a Data Analyst 2 with VGM Insurance Services, a typical day might include :
- Create reports, presentations, dashboards, insights and analytics
- Produce ad-hoc datasets and reports using SQL and other industry technologies to fulfill data requests
- Perform research and assist in analyzing data
- Develop or update existing Tableau dashboards
- Create and maintain daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual datasets, reports and visualizations
- Apply mathematical routines and formulas to provide summarized information
- Maintain a high level of proficiency in business analytics and emerging trends related to the position
- Complete other data, systems and I.T. oriented activities as an active member of the Systems team
- Monitor and upgrade analytics software such as : Tableau server / desktop, Enterprise Data Warehouse, or RedGate
- Execute annual audit and decommissioning process for existing reporting objects
- Deliver of cross-divisional analytics initiatives
- Mentor newer employees
- Organize and run meetings surrounding analytic engagements such as : First looks of dashboards / research projects, task prioritization or requirements gathering
You have :
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, MIS, Computer Science or related field is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with data in a project setting
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in Tableau, Power BI or other visual analytics software
- Proficient with SQL syntax and Microsoft Excel
- Experience developing reports in SSRS is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in both individual and team work environments
- Proficiency with SSIS in designing, testing, and debugging SSIS packages is a bonus
- Python or other programming language experience is a bonus
