Senior Patent Counsel, Team Lead Patent Generation (Hybrid- 4 days in-office)

We are looking for a Senior Patent Counsel to lead our global Patent Generation team. This team includes patent attorneys and agents across the global R&D sites.

In this role, you are primarily responsible for coordinating ASM's global prosecution work , identifying and implementing efficiencies, and developing a portfolio consistent with our business objectives.

You will report to the Head of IP Generation and IP Contracts, and have a strong working relation with other units of ASM's IP, licensing, and security team.

Experience

• Prior people leadership or a genuine and engaging personality (preferably having success in leading a remote, multicultural team, including talent development and fostering collaborative and empowering working practices.)
• Strong experience in prosecuting patent applications in major jurisdictions
• Patent portfolio management processes development
• Familiarity with drafting, reviewing and negotiating contract IP-terms
• Business acumen and agility to adapt to changing circumstances
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing technologies and business environment helpful but not required

Skills

To be successful in this role, you must have strong interpersonal skills, see the big picture of patent portfolio generation and management, as well as be able to handle conflicting priorities under time pressure.

Improving workflows to create a seamless IP generation process in close collaboration with the IP managers embedded in our business units and IP Operations team should sound exciting.

Location

You will be part of ASM's global IP and licensing team with representation in the US, Japan, Korea, Belgium, Italy, Finland and the Netherlands.

Occasional international travel is expected.

Education

Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry or other relevant semiconductor engineering discipline.
