Description
The WELL on the campus of Sac State is seeking a student for the Building Supervisor role. This position is responsible for the general operation of The WELL in the absence and support of full-time building staff.
Shifts occur during the day, nights, and weekends, including special events and holidays. The building supervisor should be thoroughly familiar with the goals, policies, and procedures of each department in The WELL, and be able to coordinate and direct activities of student employees and appropriately deal with a wide variety of customer service situations with the general public.

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc.
is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc.
or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period.
UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant positing should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted : employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance.
Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
Prerequisites
Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students.

Shifts available Monday-Saturday. Schedule varies.
Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks;
winter, spring & summer).
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a complex setting and to organize / supervise college-aged individuals.
- Must be able to interpret and carry out Union WELL, Inc. policies and procedures as it relates to the activities of individuals or group occupancy in The WELL.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to write clear and concise reports.
- Must have foundational characteristics of a leader.
- Must have desire to work as part of a team.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
- Possess current CPR / AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain prior to first scheduled shift.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Ability to logically draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations for improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and maintain the general operation of The WELL during all hours of operations.
- Monitor all operating spaces at all times ensuring member safety.
- Enforce policies and procedures of Union The WELL Inc., The WELL and the University.
- Communicate effectively with staff, participants and spectators.
- Respond to injuries and emergencies; activate the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and manage all staff responsibilities during emergencies and active EAPs.
- Attend pre-semester training, all staff meetings and trainings throughout the semester.
- Supervise all on-duty WELL student / part-time staff by supporting them with any and all job-related needs during shifts.
- Foster professional standards among staff, including but not limited to punctuality, communication, and proper attire.
- Be able to address customer service-related questions in a positive manner.
- Be a point of contact for all vendors, third-parties, or outside groups using the facility.
- Review, complete, sign and submit Incident / injury reports properly.
- Respond and address all maintenance and IT related issues for the building. Properly submit service tickets, inform the appropriate pro-staff and document all situations.
- Assist in set-up and break down of informal recreation, intramurals, special events and other events in the facility.
- Other duties assigned.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range;
verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed either in a gym or office environment or a combination of the two. Continuous contact with staff and patrons.
Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.
