CMS ATHLETICS
The Joint CMS Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Program is comprised of student-athletes from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges and offers a comprehensive program of regular physical education, intramural, recreational, club and varsity sports.
CMS varsity teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), as a member of NCAA Division III.
The Program is comprised of 21 varsity sports (10 men’s, 11 women’s) and supports a student population of over 3, and a student-athlete population of approximately .
BASIC FUNCTION
The Manager of Athletic Communications will strategically promote CMS Athletics teams, student-athletes, and coaches in a balanced manner to the local and national media, fans, parents, alumni, recruits, and the community by creating and directing athletic department video content, including live streaming, videography, social media content, and special projects, while training and managing a staff of student workers.
The successful candidate will be creative, organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and have experience working under pressure, while balancing multiple projects and deadlines.
Candidates should have excellent writing, public relations, marketing, and games management skills (statistics, etc.), and a background in supervising a small team.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Reporting directly to the Director of Athletic Communications, the Athletic Communications Manager will be responsible for the following :
- Set up, produce, and direct live game multi-camera video broadcasts for internet streaming.
- Produce original video content for the athletic department, including features, promotions, releases on student-athletes, awards, and other special projects (i.
e., Hall of Fame Video, Board of Trustee presentations, etc.).
- Oversee the videography of athletic events and practices.
- Manage the filing and archiving of video content.
- Recruit, hire, and train of student personnel for broadcasting, production, camera operator, and videography roles. Provide oversight, including quality control, accountability, and payroll functions such as time and attendance.
- Serve as official statistician, track statistics, and report statistics to the conference and media for CMS events, and SCIAC and NCAA Championships that are hosted by CMS.
- Interface with Public Affairs, Alumni, Academic Services, and Advancement Offices at Claremont McKenna College, and the equivalent offices at Harvey Mudd College and Scripps College, to promote CMS teams, student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Interact daily with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators to actively promote CMS.
- Work in partnership with CMS departments, including Compliance, Equipment, etc. to ensure adherence to NCAA rules and CMS’ brand (logos, marketing materials, etc.).
- Handle the movement of cameras, tripods and / or broadcasting equipment as necessary.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred. Preferred degrees : communication, sports management or administration, public relations, or marketing.
EXPERIENCE : A minimum of 3 years of collegiate athletic communications experience is required.
