Job Description and Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

As a member of the Occupational Survey Group in the Labor Market Information Division, under the direction of the Research Data Supervisor II, the Research Data Supervisor I plans, organizes, and directs the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) Unit working with various staff to conduct the OEWS Program.

The program is an ongoing biannual survey of the occupations and wages within industries throughout California. Responsibilities include leading the verification of sample design, address refinement, mailing of survey forms, data collections, key entry of data and electronic data file uploads, monitoring workload and survey response, quality assurance edits, working with the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to prepare and review employment and wage estimates, securing and maintaining supplies and documents, preparing and submitting reports, providing technical assistance to staff and responding to requests and inquiries from customers.

An effective candidate must be a team player, have strong communication and organizational skills, adapt to changing technology and priorities, move easily from one task to another, and manage data accurately.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute.

Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
