As a Field Engineer, you will take on a role that blends technical expertise with relationship management, focusing on delivering education, services, and support to both internal and external customers.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide expert consultation to a range of professionals, including engineers, architects, and contractors, guiding them in the design, development, and implementation of Simpson products to meet their project needs.
In this role, you'll be deeply involved in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as design professionals, specifiers, building officials and contractors.
Your goal will be to ensure that Simpson anchoring systems, lateral and continuous rod tie-down systems, mass timber and light-gauge steel connectors, structural steel solutions, and concrete strengthening products are specified and integrated into a variety of construction projects.
This position will be based in the greater Denver Area, and service all of Colorado, and Wyoming .
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Provide technical support of anchoring systems, lateral and continuous rod tie-down systems, mass timber and light-gauge steel connectors, structural steel solutions and concrete strengthening products to internal and external customers. (25%)
Conduct technical presentations for individuals, groups and professional associations involved in new construction and / or the repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, focusing on general technical knowledge as well as the advantages and use of Simpson products. (20%)
Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, engineering firms, building officials and contractors within the region. (20%)
Identify sales opportunities and work closely with the sales team to support closing of sales opportunities. (15%)
Use product knowledge, experience and training to develop solutions for a wide variety of concrete and steel applications to support jobsite driven needs. (10%)
Work closely with Simpson Product Managers, Branch Engineers and Technicians to identify new products and testing opportunities.
Assist in development and review of technical literature. (5%)
Identify and maintain Department of Transportation approvals for anchoring systems and concrete repair and strengthening products.
Assist in product approval review and submittals. (5%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too :
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Colorado Required.
- B.S. degree in Civil / Structural Engineering Preferred.
- 5 years structural design experience designing commercial structures; reinforced concrete, light-gauge steel, structural steel, multi-family and CLT design a plus.
- Construction : Practical working knowledge of common concrete and steel construction methods.
- Product knowledge : General knowledge of concrete anchors and light gage steel. Design experience with fasteners, connectors, and lateral systems a plus.
- 2 years computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACAD, various design software).
- Knowledge : Practical working knowledge of common concrete and steel construction methods. Familiarity with Simpson products is a plus.
- Customer focus : Quickly and effectively solve customer problems and maintain productive internal and external customer relationships.
Readily readjust priorities to respond to pressing and changing customer needs. Recognize potentially adverse customer reactions and develop better alternatives.
Self-management : Set priorities, goals and timelines to achieve maximum productivity. Manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
Communication : Excellent communication skills; written and verbal, proof reading, professional phone demeanor. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Enthusiastic attitude and ability to work well with others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in both a professional office environment, customer sites and outdoor construction job sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers / scanners, etc.
The employee occasionally works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level may be loud at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
This position requires domestic travel up to 20% of the time (4 to 6 overnights per month, depending on home location).

This full-time, exempt position is located in the greater Denver, CO area.
RELOCATION
Relocation may be considered for this position.
$77,200 - $123,500 / year
