Manager 1, Business Operations
Administrative leadership position which works under the direction of the Department Chair of Radiation Oncology and key senior administrative leaders (KSALs) of the Department of Radiation Oncology (DRO) to enable the department chair (DC) and the DRO to achieve the highest level of performance academically, clinically, and financially.
Functions as the Assistant Manager of Administrative Operations and reports to the Department Administrator and ultimately to the Department Chair in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
- 70% manages and trains all administrative operations positions and ensures a smooth and efficient collaboration across all three mission areas (clinical, research, academic) in the department, including management and direction of administrative staff;
- Administers policies and executes procedures.
- Provides supervision and staff development.
- Assists with the interviewing, hiring, promotion, discipline and otherwise maintain appropriate levels of personnel.
- Assists with evaluating staff performance and productivity; acknowledge, counsel and recommend appropriate actions to include merit increases, recognition, demotions, transfers or dismissals.
- Provides management and administration on budgets and funding sources including grants, endowments, release time, and contracts;
- serves as an administrative resource to faculty; oversees operational needs of the research, education and clinical missions, including but not limited to residency and fellowship programs, oversees promotion and tenure, academic RVU process, philanthropic events, productivity reporting, and patient satisfaction targets;
- prepares total resource management reports;
Provides oversight and management for the Promotion and Tenure Process in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Manages the recruitment process following University led SHIFT initiatives.
Provides oversight of Training Center Activities and training center staff.
Oversees administers and manages performance management activities; serves as a liaison between faculty and staff. Manages annual performance management process, faculty review data collection, and actively participate in Annual Merit Compensation Process (AMCP) in collaboration with Chief Administrative Officer, department chair and management team.
30% in conjunction with the Department Administrator and Finance Manager; participates in the planning of financial strategic initiatives ;
participates in strategic growth of the clinical, research and academic missions and performs marketing activities and community relations to further the strategic direction of the department.
- Oversees and manage relationships with OSU leadership offices (e.g., OSUMC CEO, OSU President, Provost, etc.) as well as board members, high level officials from granting / outside agencies, hospital executives and departmental heads, staff, college deans, departmental chairpersons, faculty, physicians, patients, VIP patients, visiting dignitaries and the general public;
- and dignitaries of the Ohio State International Training Center for Radiation Oncology, Contributing and managing initiatives in tech transfer, commercialization, and entrepreneurship;
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in business administration
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business or relevant field required; 3+ years experience in an administrative capacity required preferably managing administrative staff;
- experience working in an academic medical center preferred; supervisory experience preferred; knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations preferred;
requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
