Akins Machinery is the #1 Woodworking Machinery Sales and Service Organizations in the New England Area. We are seeking an Accounting Business Unit Manager to work onsite at our location in Londonderry, NH .
Overview
The Accounting Business Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization.
This role combines strong accounting expertise with business acumen to ensure accurate financial reporting, to execute desired initiatives, and contribute to the company's overall success.
Responsibilities
- Accounting :
- Responsible for the entire accounting cycle of the business unit, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.
- Prepare and submit business unit financial statements (balance sheet, income statement) to corporate accounting department each month.
- Assist in the daily preparation of machinery quotes, sales orders, vendor billing, customer invoicing, and all related treasury functions.
- Work closely with management and internal staff on a daily basis.
- Ensure internal controls are in place and functioning effectively.
- Work with the corporate accounting department on all financial, budget, and audit responsibilities.
- Business Unit Management :
- Contribute to the development of the annual budgeting and forecasting processes with the corporate accounting department.
- Become a key member of the corporate accounting team in Vernon Hills, IL.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the Machinery specific NetSuite ERP software.
- Define, develop and implement key measurables and analytics to support senior management.
- Team player willing to jump in where needed to help run the Machinery Business Unit.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and support informed decision-making.
- Identify areas for cost savings and operational improvement.
- May participate in strategic planning discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP or IFRS accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience in SAP, Oracle NetSuite is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft products desired.
- Strong attention to detail.
