ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY : Part-Time Student Assistant to work in the Motor Development Clinic Summer Camp 2024 under the supervision of Dr.
Mai Jara & Dr. Chloe Simpson.
ABOUT US : As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Enterprises offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
The Enterprises offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Enterprises also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Enterprises and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Pepsi Scholarship.
In addition, the Enterprises administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications.
The Enterprises contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety) :
- The student assistant will plan, lead, and implement camp programs for children and adults with disabilities.
- Will provide high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
- Student assistant will supervise campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Student will maintain a schedule for camp participants, facilitate and create lesson plans for daily activities on land and pool.
- Student assistants will assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, documentation, and daily attendance.
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Records and tracks camper's dietary restrictions / allergies and ensures that the meals / snacks are distributed to them.
- Student assistant will mediate any campers' disputes.
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
- Student assistants will maintain constant surveillance of the pool / body of water areas.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Must have completed KIN 3460 with a "B" or above and completed BRIC safety protocol training.
- Must possess excellent communication, self-starter, and leadership skills and have the ability work in a team setting and to positively interact with other students, faculty and staff.
PREFERRED
- Completed KIN 5750 with a "B" or above.
- Training / experience is preferred.
