Are you passionate about cloud computing, large scale distributed systems and being on the forefront of driving innovations at massive scale?

The Microsoft Azure Storage Platform team is responsible for defining, building, and deploying the foundational platforms and setting strategy, managing, and optimizing the fleet hosting Azure Storage services.

We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to join our team to lead the Azure Storage Fleet Strategy and Capacity management team.

This is a unique and highly visible management role with large scope to create strategies and drive optimizations for delivering operational excellence in storage fleet management for best-in-class first party and third party customer experiences.

You will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, identifying trends impacting storage fleet capacity efficiencies, steering the capacity strategy and operations to deliver end to end seamless customer capacity experiences while meeting fleet quality, availability and business profitability goals.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years of experience in technical program management / business planning / capacity planning OR operations strategy and / or planning.

OR equivalent experience.

4+ years people management experience.

3+ years experience managing cross-functional and / or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements :

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings : Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications :

  • Candidates should feel comfortable operating with large amounts of reasonability and autonomy.
  • Experience managing teams of product managers / program managers.
  • Experience in fleet management, capacity management and planning, customer experience at cloud scale.
  • Technical background in storage technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud storage solutions and experience in cloud storage.
  • Experience in cost planning, setting cost and pricing strategies.

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for managing a team of high caliber program managers and technical program managers to deliver subject matter expertise for Azure Storage end-to-end Cost Of Goods Sold (COGS) strategy and profitability roadmap.
  • Drive execution and operationalize cross Azure Storage initiatives with focus on reducing Storage fleet inefficiencies and improving seamless capacity availability.
  • Identify, recommend new investments with focus on overall fleet COGS reductions to drive profitability via improvements in capacity utilization and performance allocations, fleet management optimization.
