THE FOCUS IS YOU :

We are looking to add a Tax Manager to help guide and oversee our clients, in addition to supporting our internal leaders and the ongoing growth in our Melville, NY office.

As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries.

The Tax Manager serves to manage client relationships and act as a liaison between overseeing / mentoring internal staff and working closely with internal leaders, to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Regular duties include (but are not limited to) :

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in individual taxation, trusts, and gift taxation.
  • Review federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and quarterly projections for individual clients, Trusts, and gift tax returns.
  • Review individual tax compliance forms and work with a dedicated individual tax team.
  • Knowledge of preparation of business corporate and partnership returns is preferred.
  • Review federal and state tax returns and work of staff and interns, providing feedback, training, and mentoring.
  • Review tax information supplied by clients and obtain open items.
  • Develop tax planning opportunities arising from inbound and outbound cross-border transactions and activities.
  • Assist with the coordination of planning, tax work, and wrap up.
  • Facilitate tax research and establish tax strategies to client business opportunities.
  • Identify and communicate tax issues to clients and partners.
  • Participate in the firm’s marketing, recruiting, team-building, and similar efforts.
  • Build relationships with clients and staff.
  • Actively involved in product development and product sales that will enhance market opportunities to generate revenue.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to introduce the firm and serve as an active spokesperson.
  • Represent the firm and area of expertise by making presentations at third-party events.
  • Demonstrate excellence in Executive Presence, People Development, Leadership, and Professionalism.
  • Effectively develop, supervise, train, coach, and mentor staff.
  • Manage people with poise and professionalism, especially during peak periods of client engagement and deadlines.
  • Promote the ideals, values, mission, and vision of the firm.
  • Conduct self with the utmost professionalism and demonstrate respect towards others.
  • Respect and embrace diversity; look to build a One-Firm team spirit amongst staff.
  • Maintain appropriate compliance with all firm-wide and local office policies and procedures.
  • Promote the most efficient operations of the Firm and support compliance guidelines in managing others.
  • Assist partners / managing directors in managing administrative activity.
  • Develop outside relationships with a goal of generating referral sources.
  • Adhere to the firm’s policies and procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience

  • 5+ years in a relevant position
  • Public accounting or other professional services environment preferred

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or other recognized business credential
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting (for Audit or Tax)

License / Certification

  • Must be a CPA
  • Must maintain required CPE credits annually
  • May need other industry or specialization certification for specific positions

Legal / Compliance

  • Must complete acknowledgment of Independence Guidelines and Ethical Standards document
  • Government engagements require ability to obtain a security clearance from the United States government

This range considers many factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s knowledge, job-specific skills, experience, licensure, and certifications.

A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $110,000 to $180,000.
