Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Reynolds School of Journalism is seeking to hire a student assistant to work in the reception area of the Dean’s office.

This position reports to the Assistant to the Dean and to the Fiscal / HR Officer and will provide support on an as needed basis to other members of the Dean’s office, including creative support to the Marketing Communications Specialist of the Reynolds School.

Responsibilities

Answer multi-line phones and direct calls to appropriate extensions

Assist with Reynolds School special events

Greet guests to the Dean’s office and direct them to appropriate offices and campus locations

Mail distribution

Maintain office supply inventory and place office supply orders

Run cross-campus errands

Create and maintain Word and Excel reference documents

Stock photocopiers and assist with making copies

In cooperation with the Marketing Communications specialist :

Assist with creation of graphics

Execution of email campaigns

Co-write stories featuring RSJ events and accomplishments

Required Qualifications

Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Candidate must have excellent organizational skills

Candidate must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and basic understanding of Nevada Box and other shared workspaces

Candidate must be motivated and demonstrate attention to detail
