JOB DESCRIPTION
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret assembly drawings, engineering information sheets, work orders, checklists and test reports
- Have experience in Pressure Testing (Hydro, Gas) and Functional Testing.
- Knowledge in reading and filling traceability documents and testing charts.
- Knowledge in torquing instruments and following torquing procedure and requirement.
- Able to participate and identify root cause of assembly and testing failures.
- Operate machines or use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place.
- Assembles and disassembles National Oilwell Varco proprietary and other proprietary oilfield equipment.
- Reports any material discrepancies or material defects to area supervisor.
- Operates lifting devices for movement of parts and other equipment as needed.
- Analyze and effectively evaluate test data against establish pass / fail criteria.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with coworkers and engineers to quickly resolve problems related to products and procedures.
- Perform assignments under minimal supervision.
- Resolves most problems and refers only more complex issues to higher levels.
- Responsible for recording all details of the part (Heat number, material grade, part number, WO / PO number, etc.)
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and reach particularly for sustained periods of time
- Able to operate a computer and other office machinery using finger dexterity for typing and writing
- Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken and written word
- Must be able to lift 25lbs to shoulder height
- Able to perform light physical effort to lift or move materials up to 40 pounds
- Visual acuity to view a computer screen
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots
- Standing 85% of the time
- Available to work overtime as required
- Works under immediate or moderate supervision
- Typically reports to a supervisor / manager
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Assembly experience for 5 plus years
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrable proficiency with assembling, testing and calibrating complex devices in a manufacturing or similar work environment.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to, bench power supplies, hand-held meters, etc.
- Relevant experience reading and understanding of drawings and specifications
- Experience with all types of hand tools such as : torque wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, and crimping tools.
- Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
