Position Summary :
The School of Nursing is seeking applications for adjunct faculty. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester contract basis.
Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of a contract. Many School of Nursing adjunct positions are clinically based assignments in Alaska, primarily in the Anchorage area.
UAA faculty positions may be represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
Duties :
100% Use clinical experience to serve as an instructor, mentor and role model, to facilitate learning opportunities and guidance for nursing students at various levels of learning from associate and bachelors level in the clinical and / or skills lab and / or simulation setting.
Ability to promote critical thinking through providing feedback on students clinical paperwork when needed and evaluate students progress throughout the learning process.
Participate in team meeting to allow involvement with other faculty to plan, implement, and evaluate existing clinical nursing curriculum providing expertise for the clinical setting.

Essential About the School of Nursing : As a partner in shaping health care in Alaska, the University of Alaska Anchorage School of Nursing (SON) educates students for current and future roles in local, state, national, and worldwide arenas, as well as for productive citizenship, personal growth, and professional nursing practice.
The SON offers undergraduate degrees of Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in nursing, Bachelor of Science (BS) in nursing science, RN-BS, as well as graduate level nursing degrees in several specialty tracks : Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Family and Nurse Leadership and Education.
UAA School of Nursing seeks innovative, energetic professionals to contribute to our nursing education programs which include those delivered via distance to sites throughout the state.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, clinical experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience working with private and public external constituencies. Ability to advocate for the university, School of Nursing mission, vision and core values and student success.
Typical Experience : Clinical experience required in one of the following areas : Community Health, Psych / Mental Health, OB, Medical Surgical / Critical Care.
Experience in additional clinical specialty is preferred.
Required Education or Training : Must hold a minimum of baccalaureate degree in nursing.
Must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in State of Alaska.
Masters Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Assignment Information : Adjunct positions are on a semester appointment basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment nor does having worked one semester guarantee an offer of employment in the following semester.
This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need.
Salary :
Salary is based on the number of previous semesters teaching experience within the University of Alaska.
