SUMMARY

CEI a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Site / Safety Heath Officer to support our various construction projects from our Las Vegas, NV office.

The SSHO will be responsible for ensuring safety oversite and training for the contract.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractor's daily production report.
  • Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports.
  • Use OSHA's Form 300-A to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site.
  • Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
  • Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparator meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
  • Review the APP and AHA's for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.
  • Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Must have demonstrated strong verbal / written communication, interpersonal, and high-level analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to think strategically, multi-task, understands processes, and work in a fast-paced, changing environment under extreme deadlines.
  • Attend, facilitate, and coordinate required meetings and progress updates.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • 5 years of safety related experience on similar projects.
  • 30 hours of OSHA construction safety course or equivalent within the past 5 years.
  • 8 hours of formal, on-line, or self-study safety and health related coursework each year within the past 5 years. Documentation Required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is a must.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail is a must.
  • Maintaining good attendance, (punctuality) and actively participating with a positive attitude is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to perform in a fast pace environment.
  • Valid Driver's license with good driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
  • The ability to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • The ability to perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information, files and document processing.
  • The ability to positively represent the organization to customers, the public, the government and other external sources.

DOT COVERED / SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation safety-sensitive functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.

The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results.

If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations. 50%+ travel required.
