Position Summary The main purpose of this position is to process Veterans certification paperwork in compliance with state and federal Veteran’s Administration (VA) policies and regulations.

This position is designated as PSU’s primary School Certifying Official for students receiving benefits through the Department of Veteran Affairs and in accordance with the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding for tuition assistance.

This includes maintaining expert and up-to date knowledge on all state and federal VA regulations.

This position provides support for the front counter in the Veterans Certification unit, as well as providing support to the Assistant Registrar in day-to-day operations.

Minimum Qualifications from Classification Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR

Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.

Note :

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

  • One year customer service experience either in person, via telephone, or through electronic communication.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work, stay on task, and maintain coverage schedules in a self-directed way.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of PSU policy, procedure and environment.
  • Knowledge of Banner SIS and DARS.
  • Knowledge of federal GI Bill benefits and certification procedures using Enrollment Manager.
  • Experience at an academic institution of higher education.
  • Experience with de-escalation techniques in service related environment.

Work Days / Hours Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $ and $ per hour.

The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
