Under limited direction, the Compliance Officer is responsible for the monitoring of City Departments implementing grants and respective projects by performing compliance orientations and compliance monitoring reviews to ensure compliance with City policy and ordinances, as well as federal and state regulations.
Reviews include, but are not limited to, assessment of grant terms and conditions, grant objectives and deliverables, grant expenditures, and fiscal and programmatic reports.
Compliance Monitoring Reviews are also performed on the Outside Agencies funded through the City's General Fund and through the Development Corporation of McAllen, Inc.
The position may also assist in the preparation and assembly of grant applications and in solidifying proposed grant budgets.
Compliance monitoring practices include the assessment of grant programs, reporting standards, procurement processes related to grant / contract period of performance.
Compliance reports are also generated to formalize the review with the City Department and Outside Agency, and outline procedures or internal controls to correct or mitigate any non-compliance or potential non-compliance circumstance in an effort to promote ethical compliance.
