WHAT YOU’LL DO

Teach For America - Washington seeks a Manager, Program Operations to serve as the operations leader for all programmatic and regional priorities.

In this role, you will execute on the suite of programmatic and participant operations across our region, as well as directly support the Executive Director, all toward building a strong regional culture by executing seamless regional and office operations for our staff, corps, and alumni that strengthen our collective community.

As the Manager, Program Operations, you play a critical role in supporting the team in shaping the direction and impact of the Washington region by ensuring our staff, corps and alumni events are grounded in our values and regional culture priorities.

Your role sits at the center of our region’s ability to move forward and maximize our efforts in Washington by adding direct capacity to the region’s most senior leaders as well as supporting our entire community to thrive in partnership with one another.

You will help drive our region’s vision for community and culture via managing our office operations, staff support, and events for corps members and alumni, including setting vision for and executing office operations.

As a part of this work, you will also lead the charge in driving the effectiveness and efficiency of our Executive Director (ED) through managing the ED’s priorities, calendar and communications.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

In this role, you will :

Manage program operations and special projects : 55%

Directly plan and execute engagement strategies for alumni including, but not limited to, social events, Alumni Board events, and survey completion

Manage execution for other programmatic priorities including ICM and CM events

Support the MD, Matriculation and MD, Partnerships with execution of matriculation and certification / placement strategy

Establish and execute regional communications and media strategies including, but not limited to staff, corps, alumni, and other partner blasts, social media posts and one-off communications

Work with agility to execute on multiple, simultaneous projects as they arise in support of our regional priorities

Support our Executive Director : 30%

In partnership with the ED, manage the ED’s time, schedule and calendar in order to achieve strategic priorities throughout the year

Draft communications on behalf of the ED for key external partners and audiences

Manage all expense reports and travel logistics for the ED

Work in partnership with key stakeholders to ensure that the ED’s time is reflective of his development and corps member strategy and priorities, internal needs as a regional team, and external strategy and priorities

Support preparations for internal or external facing meetings as needed

Manage office and fiscal operations : 15%

Oversee internal systems, including finance, compliance and office administration

Be the primary relationship holder for our region and national colleagues in the areas of finance and compliance

Create systems and structures that keep our office operating at high-efficiency

Ensure that our team has the resources needed to thrive

Manage our office vendor relationships

Act as a liaison between staff and corps / alum to access our office and it’s amenities

Other duties : 5%

Deeply invest in our broader regional efforts towards our 10 year goal

Engage in ongoing professional development with our team

Engage in corps member interviewing several times throughout the year

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, you will offer project management and execution to the Washington team and work on various projects.

You might build a project plan to design and implement an upcoming event, or work to set up the physical space for an event that week.

You will process expense reports and invoices on at least a monthly basis. You may coordinate with members of national teams, like the cost center’s finance partner or legal partner, to secure needed information and resources.

You will ensure office systems are operating smoothly. You will likely spend time writing content for social media accounts and email blasts to corps members and alumni.

You will spend time organizing the Executive Director’s priorities and calendar, and communicating with external partners on behalf of the Executive Director.

During our hiring season, you may also spend some time supporting the matriculation and onboarding of our new corps members.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications) :

Demonstrated Experience, Skills and Approach :

A track record of investing and motivating others to take action

Experience handling a large volume of projects and tasks at once with a high level of prioritization, organization and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment

Ability to chart a path forward with multiple, sometimes competing, priorities from different stakeholders

Experience managing up to multiple different stakeholders and leaders to ultimately drive projects and priorities forward

Ability to translate the vision of others into experiences at events that provoke action, inspiration, and pride

Productively engage in dialogue to further your and your organization’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusiveness.

Display and model a learning orientation, including around one’s own personal identity.

Open to navigating ambiguity and displaying adaptability in a constantly evolving context

Superb organization, detail-orientation, and project management skills

At least 2 years of professional experience

Excellent partner-service ethic and follow-through

Exceptional project planning and project management skills

Flexibility and optimistic approach and commitment to overcoming obstacles

Ability to work some nights and weekends to support events or other key projects

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

Experience serving as an executive assistant for a senior executive

Experience in an education or nonprofit organization

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area.

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands.

The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. This range may be modified in the future.

Salary Range : $65,700 - $98,600
