We are the only veterinary practice on the historic island of Portland, linked by road to the seaside town of Weymouth. Our practice is on a picturesque high street with views of the sea and the dramatic Jurassic coast and we even have our very own castle!

We have an incredibly loyal client base who trust us to give exceptional care and compassion to their animals, led by a highly experienced Branch Partner, who is renowned in the local area, supported by a fantastic in-house Nursing team, who get involved in supporting their local community and even judged a local dog show!

Portland boasts 2 modern consult rooms, a full laboratory, including biochemistry, a theatre, dental x-rays and dental machine, plus ultrasound, and covers a good balance of surgery and consults throughout the week.

The opportunity here is both to learn from an experienced leader whilst building your own brand with our clients and their pets!

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will :

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
  • Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare tailored, accurate treatment and care plans for each patient with clear cost estimates.
  • Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  • Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  • Experience of supporting nurse consults and schedule 3 procedures, with an understanding of how this contributes to clinic performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
