The Literacy Coalition is currently seeking a full-time program manager responsible for developing and teaching literacy-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lessons with children in kindergarten through eighth grade in afterschool programs and summer camps.
Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 9 : 30 AM to 5 : 30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
The Literacy Coalition's Stories and STEM program is designed to foster literacy skills, excite children and youth about STEM, expand upon prior knowledge, promote curiosity, and help children learn essential cooperation and teamwork skills.
Each session, children engage in fun, hands-on activities related to a book and are introduced to creative minds, both famous and lesser-known, who can serve as role models to interest children in STEM careers.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced educator who is passionate about fostering literacy skills and promoting STEM exploration.
Job Requirements :
- Bachelor's Degree
- Ability to work with children of multi-cultural backgrounds and with diverse learning needs
- Excellent research, training, communication and organizational skills
- Must have a reliable vehicle, and requires maintaining a valid Florida State drivers' license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable agency insurance.
- Ability and willingness to participate in ongoing professional development activities in order to keep current on new developments in the field and to enhance skills already maintained
