Overview
The Director, Business Operations Program Leader is responsible for leading and overseeing multiple optimization projects within Iovance Biotherapeutics.
This role will help to transform the way R&D operates. The role requires strong project management skills, as well as a strategic mindset to optimize business operations and drive down development costs.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of R&D processes, including effective governance models, excellent communication and leadership abilities, and a track record of successfully managing cross functional initiatives with a focus on cost saving & efficiency.
Continuous improvement and stakeholder management are also key aspects of this role. The Business Operation Program Leader will play a vital role in driving operational efficiency, ensuring successful project implementation, and contributing to the overall advancement of the Portfolio Strategy.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Project Leadership : You will lead and oversee various projects within R&D, ensuring that they are executed successfully and within the given timelines.
This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, tracking progress, and managing any potential risks or issues that may arise.
- Governance; Manage governance process and drive preparation by teams, with attention to clear and succinct presentation of recommended and alternative plans, and thorough evaluation of opportunities and risks
- Operations Strategy : You will play a key role in developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize the business operations.
This includes identifying areas for improvement, streamlining processes, and ensuring that operational efficiency is maximized
Budgeting, Resource and Timeline : You will be responsible for managing budgets and allocating resources effectively to support the projects and operations within the Portfolio department.
This includes making budget recommendations, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resource allocation to achieve project goals
Stakeholder Management : You will interact with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
This includes building relationships with key stakeholders, managing their expectations, and effectively communicating project updates and progress.
Continuous Improvement : You will constantly seek opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the R&D operations.
This involves identifying bottlenecks, implementing best practices, and driving a culture of continuous improvement to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Communication : Encourage open communication and collaboration among team members. Create an environment where everyone feels safe to share ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback, enabling a culture of continuous improvement.
- Change Management and Implementation : work closely with cross functional teams to ensure smooth business collaboration and implementation of systems and processed, with detailed execution plans that are monitored by a set of KPIs
- People Leadership : Ability to inspire, guide, and positively influence individuals and teams towards achieving common goals.
It involves effectively managing and developing people to reach their full potential, fostering a positive work culture, and creating an environment that encourages collaboration, growth, and engagement.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry or related field
- PMP / PMI Certification
- Minimum of 12 years project management / leadership experience in the Pharmaceutical / Biotech environment, preferably in R&D.
- Highly organized and able to work independently.
- Well-developed influencing skills with an interest and experience in building relationships across functional areas.
- Able to negotiate through complex and difficult decision-making processes.
- Goal oriented and proven strategic thinker.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience and ability to cope well within a tight timeline.
- People management in a matrix organization.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Knowledge
Knowledge in immuno-oncology, biologics, or cell-based therapy highly desirable.
