Job Title : Special Education Teacher
Location : Florissant, Missouri
Position Overview : We are seeking a motivated Special Education Teacher to join our educational team in Florissant, Missouri.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing tailored instructional programs to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
This role requires the ability to work closely with students, parents, and other educators to develop and execute effective individualized education plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Deliver direct and specialized instruction that aligns with IEP goals and objectives.
- Adapt teaching strategies and materials to address various learning styles and needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, making adjustments to instructional methods as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff to promote inclusive education practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents / guardians to discuss student progress and IEP goals.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance special education skills and knowledge.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Missouri state certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school environment.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, adaptability, and a commitment to advocating for students with special needs.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience with behavior management and positive behavior support strategies.
- Additional certifications or endorsements in specialized areas of special education (e.g., autism spectrum disorders, emotional / behavioral disorders).
