Purpose Statement

The job of Project Manager - Facilities & Operations is done for the purpose / s of providing technical and construction project management support for school site improvements, facility modifications, and new construction projects and provide support in the area of student safety.

This role involves implementing capital outlay and major maintenance projects and acting as the liaison between Facilities & Operations and district schools / campuses on design and construction matters.

Essential Functions

Acts as the owner's representative in administering projects for the purpose of ensuring effective oversight and execution.

Assists in coordinating Design Guideline changes with other Departments for the purpose of ensuring consistent and updated design practices across the District.

Develops project scopes in conjunction with other District offices, school administrators, and maintenance personnel, and external consultants for the purpose of aligning project objectives with stakeholder needs and requirements.

Develops and manages project cost estimates, budgets, and associated documentation, and monitors expenditures and adjusts budgets to ensure compliance with funding requirements for the purpose of maintaining financial control and project viability.

Leads and maintains communications with district and external contacts for the purpose of facilitating smooth project progression.

Maintains documentation and files on modifications to project records, budgets, and contracts for the purpose of ensuring accurate and up-to-date project information and financial accountability.

Manages the project design and construction process through planning, professional services, andcontractor selection, including contract negotiations, building design code reviews, and construction contract agreements, for the purpose of ensuring successful project outcomes and compliance with all requirements.

Provides reports on project status and responds to emails and other correspondence for the purpose of keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged.

Provides guidance and assists school administrators and parent groups on school-based projects for the purpose of facilitating effective project planning and community engagement.

Provides design oversight to ensure adherence to District standards and assists in establishing district guidelines and standards for the purpose of ensuring that projects meet established quality and regulatory requirements.

Reviews project construction documents and coordinates efforts between other District offices, school administrators, and maintenance personnel during the design, bidding, and construction phases of projects for the purpose of ensuring alignment and efficient project execution.

Serves as the contract compliance officer and ensures contract compliance for assigned projects throughout the life of the contracts for the purpose of maintaining adherence to contractual terms and conditions.

Other Functions

Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of supporting overall project and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities include : working under limited supervision using standardized practices and / or methods; leading, guiding, and / or coordinating others;

monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of significant resources from other work units is routinely required to perform the job's functions.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and / or illness.

Experience : Job related experience within a specialized field is required.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent.

Equivalency :

completed journeyman training preferred
