Summary
The Director Transportation is responsible for leading a team of transportation procurement professionals that will drive thought leadership, continuous improvement initiatives, and leverage Ryder's managed spend to deliver a customized solution to our clients.
Client base may include up to 20 clients generating over $1B in Freight Under Management.
Essential Functions
Deliver world class customer service by delivering agreed to customer service levels and metrics
Accountable for profitability of the client portfolio and achievement of financial targets
Hire, identify, retain and actively promote highly-talented team members by feeding the organization with talent
Works cohesively with all Ryder internal SMEs including sales, TMC operations, SCE, Marketing, Pricing, Finance and IT
Support of business development activities required to significantly grow transportation management service offering with an emphasis on organic growth
Work closely with the TM services group to ensure client requirements are communicated and issues quickly resolved
Identify business opportunities and quantity economic impact of alternatives actions, with an emphasis on organic growth
Additional Responsibilities
Adopt a program of continuous improvement that yields year-over-year advantages to client base and Ryder
Qualification of business development prospects flow and operational feasibility and profitability perspective
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required Business, Logistics or related field of study
Ten (10) years or more Experience in Transportation Management with major shipper or 3PL required
Advanced knowledge of logistics and ability to integrate Supply Chain components advanced required
Deep knowledge of Supply Chain Management including IT, large account management and financial acumen advanced required
MS Office proficiency : Excel, Access & PowerPoint advanced required
Analysis tools : Minitab, SAS, Metlab, i2. Tmod, ILPS advanced required
Ryder TM operating tools : Miles, TIS, i2TMS, Ryder On-line advanced required
