Are you ready to serve as a Senior Engineer on our Environmental Health & Safety team? As Engineers on the EHS team, we are responsible for ensuring compliance while protecting company assets (people, property, time) consistent with our business strategy, and delivering efficient processes.

You will represent Micron interests to partners on matters pertaining to compliance and asset protection and ensuring environmental resources are adequate to accomplish the organization’s objectives.

You will be involved with semiconductor manufacturing, TD (technology research and development), and site support projects or processes where you will be expected to make regulatory determinations and offer engineering input or recommendations for meeting requirements.

Additional duties include preparation, review, and filing of permit applications and regulatory reports.

As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you can expect to have frequent interaction and communication with representatives from regulatory agencies or environmental groups.

You will also work closely with the legal department, site operations teams, process engineers, and facilities engineers to maintain company compliance and integrate best management practices into design standards.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Build and implement vital programs that fulfill state, federal, and local requirements.
  • Serve as key engineer supporting air compliance and chemical management programs.
  • Lead and collaborate with Environmental Compliance team to achieve compliance and sustainability goals.
  • Interpret regulations for applicability and develop effective compliance plans with appropriate operational groups.
  • Develop and maintain accurate environmental permits, modifications, and operating procedures. Evaluate proposed facility changes, chemical and physical manufacturing processes and address regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Prepare regulatory and internal reports; quantify emissions and impacts, and participate in regulatory inspections.
  • Evaluate pollution control technologies, including technical, and economic feasibility of pollution control equipment.
  • Prepare calculations vital for reporting and monitoring.
  • Evaluate risks associated with chemical purchases and lead the review process.
  • Prepare recommended solutions and reporting of results.
  • Perform compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with applicable laws and conformance with ISO14001.

Mentor team members, as necessary.

  • Represent Micron in a professional and effective manner to both internal and external parties.
  • Respond to environmental issues and carry / answer the on-call phone when assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience : Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or Environmental-related field;

Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience : Minimum 5 years minor and major source air permitting and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of air quality laws (NSPS, NSR, NESHAP, MACT) regulations, and standards.
  • Experience with Risk Management Plans, Process Safety Management and air modeling are a plus.
  • Familiarity / solid understanding of CAA, RCRA, CERCLA, CWA (NPDES, MSGP, CGP, SPCC) ISO14001.
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
