POSITION SUMMARY :
This is work of routine difficulty responsible for cleaning Authority buildings and grounds, moving office furniture, and in related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position would normally be gained through the equivalent of a high school diploma and at least one year of manual labor experience relating to the duties of the Custodian position.
- Skill in maintenance, repair and minor installation of electrical systems, emergency lighting, electrical control systems and all types of electrical fixtures and equipment.
- Skilled in cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing the stairways, corridors, lobbies, restrooms, laundry rooms and elevators as scheduled in buildings to which he / she is assigned.
- Ability to perform custodial duties related to preparation of vacant apartments for rental.
- Skilled, in developments with compactors, the incumbent shall be trained in the operation of compactors and will be responsible for the daily operation and cleaning of the compactor area.
- Ability to make all necessary electric lighting replacements in public areas and clean all tiled areas as required.
- Responsible for reporting to the supervisor all items in the building which require maintenance repair such as : elevators, doors, windows, railings, etc.
- Ability to keep the areas free of debris around trash containers, and throughout the development.
- Skilled in snow removal and grass cutting duties whenever necessary.
- Incumbent may be called back to work after regular working hours in the event of an emergency.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift and move over 50 pounds.
- Skilled in operating equipment such as commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners.
- Good time management, organizational, multitasking, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Must have and maintain a current driver's license and be insurable under the Authority's automobile insurance.
