We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work onsite at our client's DTE Fermi Nuclear Power Plant. The successful candidate will join a team of engineers and designers focused on preparing modification packages for mechanical systems within the nuclear power industry.
Job Responsibilities : Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at the nuclear power plant. Perform engineering calculations, including hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
Create mechanical design and procurement specifications. Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, and Isometric drawings.
Develop material and work hour estimates, along with engineering and design schedules. Exercise sound engineering judgment to assess complex issues and ensure compliance with codes and design criteria.
Collaborate with plant stakeholders to define project scope / requirements and support construction, implementation, and startup activities.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in the nuclear field.
Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.Preferred Qualifications : NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
Professional Engineering (PE) license in the US. Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM or equivalent). Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems.
