This position is responsible for managing an assigned run-off reinsurer / collateral portfolio. Responsibilities include maintenance of collateral adequacy, compliance with regulatory requirements and contract provisions, and reporting accuracy.
Additional responsibilities include contractual claim reimbursement, financial analysis of companies within the assigned portfolio as well as the presentation of findings to management (written and verbal), analysis and reporting related to reinsurers and collateral, and supporting the regulatory compliance review and processing of Letters of Credit.
The ability to interpret various forms of data and create meaningful analysis and presentations, and successfully interact with internal and external constituents is essential.
Essential Functions :
- Manage a run-off reinsurer / collateral portfolio; responsibilities include maintenance of collateral adequacy, compliance with statutory / GAAP requirements and contract provisions (including covenants), reporting accuracy and analysis of reporting variances
- Analyze financial statements to assess counterparty credit risk, to include in-depth variance and trend analysis, and report findings to senior management (written and verbal)
- Review claims reimbursement requests for accuracy, completeness and eligibility for payment
- Conduct research on public and private companies for purposes of financial assessment
- Make recommendations to management on collateral movements, covenant compliance and counterparty credit exposure based on analysis findings
- Produce analytical reports and presentations on the Company's reinsurance portfolio for senior management for decision making purposes
- Assist with regulatory compliance review of Letters of Credit and process as required
- Assist IT and management in the development and enhancement of departmental systems, databases and reports
- Build and develop working relationships with reinsurers, program managers and banks
- Provide support for internal and external auditing needs and requests
- Interact with various levels of management both internally and externally
- Special projects and ad hoc reports as assigned
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Proficiency in Excel required
- Experience with statutory / GAAP financial reporting standards preferred
- Familiarity with Letters of Credit and associated State regulatory insurance code preferred
- Familiarity with technical reinsurance structures and contracts a plus
- Experience using databases and performing data analytics a plus
- Accurate, well organized and attentive to details
- Solid analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to recognize inconsistencies and assess reasonableness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively present findings and communicate key concepts to various levels of management
- Works effectively and efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards despite pressing deadlines
- Capable of managing multiple projects at the same time
- Able to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team while maintaining positive relations with clients and internal constituents
Education / Experience :
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Property and casualty insurance experience preferred
- Advanced degree or relevant certification a plus
