Summary :
The Nursing Home Medical Director will serve as a pivotal leader responsible for overseeing the medical care provided within our skilled nursing facility SNF).
This role requires a licensed MD or DO with extensive experience in sub-acute and primary care, ideally within a SNF or hospital setting.
The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills to lead and supervise mid-level providers, ensuring quality assurance and effective case management.
The Medical Director will play a vital role in upholding clinical excellence, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities :
- Provide physician leadership and oversight for all clinical practices within the nursing home.
- Collaborate with administrative staff to develop and evaluate care-related policies and procedures.
- Supervise and guide the medical staff, ensuring adherence to quality and safety initiatives.
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities to enhance patient care.
- Communicate regularly with key decision-makers, including the administrator and director of nursing.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and participate in licensure surveys.
- Monitor physician performance and practice to maintain high standards of care.
- Develop and oversee educational programs for staff, patients, families, and the community.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure ethical and legal standards are upheld.
- Stay informed about industry trends, social, regulatory, and economic factors impacting patient care.
- Promote person-directed care and support initiatives that enhance resident satisfaction and quality of life.
Qualifications :
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Active state medical license in good standing.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics).
- Proven experience in sub-acute care, primary care, or geriatric medicine.
- Previous SNF or hospital-based medical director experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience supervising mid-level providers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
