Job Description
The Facility Technician will maintain efficient and smooth operation of the physical jobsite by performing general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

- Performs general repairs and maintenance that do not require a specialized skillset. Examples may include maintaining facility buildings and ground, addressing plumbing issues, replacing lighting, and restocking inventory.
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines are in proper working order or in need of repair.
- Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems.
- Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
- Examines property for safety hazards; reports problems to Facilities Manager or other appropriate staff.
- Drafts and implements preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
- Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Ensures safety standards are followed throughout facility.
- Participates on emergency preparedness planning team.
- Applies, or assists with applications, for required business permits.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Knowledge of general carpentry, basic electrical and repair skillset.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate hand / power tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
- Thorough understanding of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Ability to keep the property clean and orderly.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Good interpersonal skills with polite and courteous demeanor toward staff, customers, clients, and visitors to the property.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Forklift and Crane certification preferred.
- Related experience preferred.
- Safety minded personality.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical requirements
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch or crawl, as well as use hands to feel, reach, grasp, handle, or operate objects, tools and / or controls.
- The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, transfer, or move items up 50 pounds at times for departmental needs.
- Ability to move from one worksite to another or light travel to various job sites and locations to complete tasks.
- Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
