POSITION SUMMARY :
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining Houston Food Bank's facilities, systems, and equipment.
This position will maintain a safe and efficient operation while maintaining all industrial ammonia refrigeration systems, electrical maintenance, plumbing, Life Safety systems, and all building mechanical systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
- Follows all work safety policies and procedures.
- Completes repair and maintenance work orders requests in a timely manner, and triages requests to prioritize the most critical repairs.
- Maintains parts and tools inventory at the direction of the facility manager / director.
- Inspects and performs preventative maintenance on facilities and systems, which may include mechanical or electrical systems, HVAC or other environmental management systems, generators or power management systems, or fire or safety systems.
- Schedules maintenance or repairs to minimize disruptions to organizational operations wherever possible.
- Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains ammonia refrigeration systems and related equipment.
- Responsible for supervising ammonia-related projects.
- Maintains compressor system, including minor repairs.
- Maintains water treatment program for condenser towers.
- Maintains all necessary paperwork associated with the refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Maintains the organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements.
- Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of Life Safety systems.
- Maintains all facility maintenance and Life Safety systems.
- Maintains necessary reports on HVAC, ammonia, and Life Safety systems.
- Member of the safety committee.
- Member of the emergency response team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Experience :
- High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate
- 5+ years of maintenance, basic plumbing, electrical, or HVAC experience
- 2+ years of verifiable ammonia refrigeration experience and / or equivalent training, including experience working on compressors, evaporators, and cooling towers
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance.

TRAVEL REQUIRED :
Travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis within our 18-county service area).
This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.
g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
