POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program awards scholarships to students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for graduate study in the United States.
The Communications Officer will lead communications activities in support of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program administered by Amideast.
The Communications Officer will be responsible for planning and developing content for the program’s social media platforms, digital asset management system and its outreach materials.
Salary for this role is between $60,000 and $65,000 per year.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and strengthen the social media presence across all Amideast Fulbright administered social media accounts
- Design and implement a social media plan and outreach strategy to raise awareness of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program for the Middle East and North Africa
- Create content for print and digital materials, social media, videos, interactive events
- Coordinate social media event planning for website, blog, and social media
- Ensure compliance with Fulbright and U.S. Department of State communications policy and brand guidelines
- Select virtual assets for submission to the Fulbright Digital Asset Management system
- Monitor and report on all strategic social media activities
- Collect Fulbright alumni stories to showcase program impact
- Write and edit communications materials including flyers, fact sheets, success stories, and presentations
- Contribute to program reporting and proposal writing
- Supervise a communications Assistant
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
- A BA / BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with social media and other platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.
- Experience in digital community management, preferably for a non-profit organization in the international education or development field.
Graphic design skills are a plus. Experience with the Adobe Design Suite and CSS is desirable
- Proven writing and editing skills and the ability to convey ideas in a creative, clear, direct, concise, and lively style
- Dependable team player who can perform regular, detail-oriented duties while also being proactive and offering creative ideas for effective and engaging communication
- Self-starter with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Candidates should have a basic understanding of HTML and should have a solid understanding of social media best practices for non-profits.

The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (on a hybrid basis).
