Position Summary Information
Job Goal : Provide effective instruction and carry out assigned related responsibilities.
Qualifications :
- Possess and maintain current Iowa RN License
- Minimum of two years RN experience required, at least one year of which must be in the provision of long-term-care facility services
- Experience in teaching adults, have experience teaching nurse aides, or have completed or be willing to complete a course in teaching adults
- Capable of meeting Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals qualifications and College’s credentialing requirements
- Ability to be a clear and professional communicator
- Possess strong clinical skills
- Meet health compliance requirements for employment, as applicable
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction for assigned Certified Nursing Assistant classes
- Instruct classes in accordance with requirements set forth by the Department of Inspections and Appeals
- Meet all scheduled class, lab and clinical commitments promptly
- Comply with NICC’s Handbook and Policies and Procedures
- Maintain the integrity of the College’s instructional curriculum
- Enforce class ground rules, emphasizing prompt and regular class attendance
- Keep classroom, lab, and clinical attendance records on all students
- Prepare and submit student records and class materials in a timely manner
- Comply with Federal laws, including HIPAA and FERPA
- Promptly report repairs needed for the classroom and equipment
- Communicate effectively with other members of the CNA Health Team
- Attend scheduled Instructor Meetings
- Represent the College in a professional manner in all settings
- Complete additional professional responsibilities as assigned
- Perform in the capacity of an evaluator at Nurse Aide Skills State Testing as scheduled
Essential Functions :
- Utilize the State Nurse Aide Curriculum when teaching CNA classes
- Deliver instruction using various modalities and strategies to meet the needs of the student learner in the classroom, lab, and / or clinical site
- Monitor, and record student attendance, progress, and attained required skills competencies
- Serve in the capacity of an evaluator at Nurse Aide Skills State Testing as needed
- Perform classroom management and instruction in compliance with all College, State, and Federal requirements and regulations
