As a medical scribe, you will partner with the physician to deliver patient care by clearly and accurately entering documentation and information from the patient visit into the electronic medical record.
The primary goal of the scribe is to allow the doctor to focus on the patient while increasing the efficiency and productivity of the physician they are working for.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician.
- Ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, and the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record.
- Identify mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation and check to correct the information to reduce errors.
- Comply with specific style, legal and ethical standards of medical records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Assist in developing and maintaining systems to track patient follow up and compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 2 years’ experience in medical office and / or customer service preferred.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills and knowledge of word processing including Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to accurately enter data into a database, search for information, and use the internet to access schedules, research information, etc.
- Ability to work with staff at all levels, while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism, discretion, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COMPENSATION : The compensation range for this position is $18.00 to $21.00. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, education, experience, and qualifications.
